Medical Plastic Multi-layer Film
PET/CPP laminated film 12/40 is a two-layer flexible packaging material made from a 12-micron outer layer of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bonded to a 40-micron inner layer of cast polypropylene (CPP).Material Structure and SpecificationsPET Layer (12 microns): Serves as the outer printing and structural web. It provides high tensile strength, puncture resistance, dimensional stability, and a glossy printable surface.CPP Layer (40 microns): Acts as the inner sealant layer. It offers low sealing temperatures, excellent hot-tack performance, flexibility, and a strong moisture barrier.Total Thickness: Typically around 52 microns (12 µm PET + 40 µm CPP plus adhesive layer).Manufacturing and Scientific MechanismsLamination Process: The PET and CPP films are bonded together using either solvent-based, solventless, or extrusion laminating adhesives. The outer PET layer is usually corona-treated on the bonding side to enhance surface energy and ink/adhesive adhesion.Heat Sealing Mechanism: During packaging, the CPP layer melts at lower thermal thresholds than PET. Molecular chain mobility in the polypropylene allows quick hermetic sealing under pressure without deforming or melting the outer structural PET layer.Common ApplicationsFood Packaging: Used for snacks, dried goods, baked products, and tray-sealing applications requiring an easy-peel or robust airtight seal.Medical Packaging: Utilized for sterile pouches and device wraps because of its puncture resistance and compatibility with various sterilization methods (steam or ethylene oxide). If you are planning a specific application, tell me:What type of product you need to packageWhether you require easy-peel or permanent seal propertiesI can help recommend the right sealing parameters or modifications for your project.
